It’s been a busy few months, so busy I’ve not had time to keep this blog updated. So here’s ONE BIG POST summarizing what I’ve been up to…..keep scrolling down to view it all.
I was commissioned to create the book covers for Canbury Press’s 2 new titles – Brainology and Bodyology. the books are a collection of easy to read essays on the science of the mind and the body. I used a combination of hand printed collagraph printing with digital techniques to create the covers.
My Kingston Characters exhibition at The Rose Theatre was received really well. 39 portraits were shown for 6 weeks. The Private View was attended by the Mayor of Kingston along with many other local characters who had been ‘stitched up’. Many of the portraits were sold after the exhibition to the recipients and I’ve had quite a few commissions since then.
Having worked mostly in textiles for a year, I felt like doing something different so had a productive couple of months on the press producing a set of decorative prints and collages. The prints were loosely inspired by the southern American quilts of Gee’s Bend.
In May, I began to offer printmaking workshops in my studio. We cover 3 kinds of monoprinting and collagraph printing and so far the participants have enjoyed the workshops so much I have had trouble getting them out of the studio at the end! Here’s some of the great work that’s been done. Get in touch if you’d like to be involved.
And now for something completely different…..As well as all the arty stuff, I have trained to be, and have become an independent civil celebrant! I create and deliver bespoke ceremonies, be they funerals, memorial services, weddings, vow renewals or baby namings. You can find out more at my other website:
